# MCP Apps and AI Integrations | Sidekick Pro

> Connect Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Asana or any MCP server to Sidekick Pro, and your assistant uses their tools in the same chat as your email and calendar.

Connecting an MCP app in Sidekick Pro, and then using its tools in a normal chat.

In short

## What are MCP apps?

MCP apps are tool connections built on the Model Context Protocol, the open standard an assistant uses to discover and call another system's tools. **Sidekick Pro** connects them from its Apps dialog: choose Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Asana or another listed app, authorize it once, and your assistant can use that app's tools in any chat. Any other MCP server connects by its URL.

## What an MCP app adds

- **One click from the catalog** Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Asana, Cloudflare and more are listed in the Apps dialog. Choose one, sign in on the provider's own page, and it is connected.
- **Any MCP server by URL** Paste the address of any MCP server. Sidekick Pro connects, reads the tools it offers, and makes them available in chat.
- **Tools found, not configured** There is nothing to map by hand. The assistant asks the server what it can do, so a tool the vendor adds later is there the next time you ask.
- **Keys you never paste in chat** An app that uses an API key asks for it on a secure card and stores it encrypted. Keys never appear in the conversation.
- **It connects them for you** Ask the assistant to add an MCP server, and it adds it, authorizes it and reports back. You do not have to find the settings dialog.
- **Works with everything else** One chat reaches your MCP apps, your Gmail and calendar, your [signed-in browser](https://sidekickpro.com/chat-in-chrome) and your [documents and tables](https://sidekickpro.com/teams), in the same request.

## Connect an app in three steps

1. ### Open Apps

Sign in to Sidekick Pro and open the Apps dialog. It lists the apps on offer and the ones you have already connected.

2. ### Authorize it

Pick an app and sign in on the provider's own page. An app that uses an API key instead shows a secure card for the key.

3. ### Ask for something

That is the whole setup. Say what you need, and the assistant picks the app's tools itself. Nothing to wire up.

## What the Model Context Protocol changes

Before MCP, every assistant needed a custom integration per tool, written and maintained by whoever built the assistant. MCP turns that around. The vendor publishes one server that describes its own tools, and any assistant that speaks the protocol can use them.

That is why the list of apps here grows without a Sidekick Pro release. If a vendor runs an MCP server, you can connect it today by pasting its URL. If your team runs an internal one, the same applies, and nobody outside your account sees it.

## Apps on offer today

The catalog covers the tools small teams ask for most: **Slack** for messages and channels, **Notion** for documents and databases, **Linear**, **Jira** and **Asana** for issues and projects, plus **Cloudflare**, **Buffer** and others. Each one connects with your own account, so the assistant sees exactly what you see and nothing more.

Not everything arrives through MCP. Gmail, Google Calendar, Tasks, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Contacts and GitHub connect to Sidekick Pro directly, and the phone line, meetings and the browser are built in. MCP is how you add the rest.

## Access stays yours

An MCP app is connected per person, under that person's own sign-in. Joining a team does not hand your Slack or Notion access to anyone else, and removing an app revokes it for you alone. See [how teams share work](https://sidekickpro.com/teams) for what is shared and what stays private.

The assistant loads an app's tools only for the requests that need them, so a long list of connected apps does not slow down every chat or spend tokens you did not use.

## What people connect them for

- ### Project and issue tracking

File the bug from the email you were just reading, move a ticket, or ask what is left in this cycle, without opening the tracker.

- ### Team messages

Search Slack for the decision you half remember, post the update, and let the assistant watch for the replies that need your attention.

- ### Notes and docs

Pull the brief out of Notion, add what came out of a call, and keep the page up to date as the work moves.

- ### Your own stack

Point it at an internal MCP server and the assistant runs your own procedures, with no code on your side.

## Frequently asked questions

**What are MCP apps?**

MCP apps are connections to other systems over the Model Context Protocol, an open standard for how an assistant discovers and calls tools. Once an app is connected, Sidekick Pro can use its tools in any chat.

**Which apps can I connect?**

The catalog includes Slack, Notion, Linear, Jira, Asana, Cloudflare and others, and it grows as vendors publish MCP servers. You can also connect any MCP server by pasting its URL, including one your own team runs.

**How do I connect an MCP server of my own?**

Open the Apps dialog, choose to add a server, and give its address. If the server needs no credentials it connects straight away. If it needs an API key or a header, you enter that on a secure card, and if it uses OAuth you sign in on the server's own page.

**Do I have to configure the tools?**

No. Sidekick Pro asks the server which tools it offers and uses them from there. A tool the vendor adds later shows up without any work from you.

**Where are my credentials stored?**

Tokens and API keys are stored encrypted against your account and are never written into the conversation. An app is connected under your own sign-in, so the assistant sees only what you can see.

**What does it cost?**

MCP apps are included in every plan, starting with Personal at $59 a month. There is no per-integration charge, and the Business plan covers your whole team at one flat price.
