What is chatting with a web page?
Chatting with a web page means asking an assistant about the page in front of you instead of copying it somewhere else. Sidekick Pro's Chrome extension opens a chat beside any tab, reads that page's content and controls, and then acts on it: clicking, typing, filling forms and moving between tabs in your own browser, with your own logins.

How to start chatting in Chrome

Install the extension
Add Sidekick Pro from the Chrome Web Store. It runs in the Chrome you already use, with the profile you already use.

One sign-in connects the assistant to your account, so your memory, documents and connected apps are there from the first message.

Reading the page is the easy half
Plenty of extensions will summarize the tab you are on. That is useful for an article and close to useless for work, because the work is rarely the reading. It is the form that needs filling, the records that need checking one by one, the thing that has to be copied from one internal tool into another.
Because Sidekick Pro drives the actual browser, the conversation does not stop at an answer. It can read the page, decide what to do and then do it in the same tab: click through, type into the fields, press the keys, follow the next link and report what it found. When something needs your eyes, the tab is right there in front of you.
It also means your logged-in sites just work. There is no connector to set up for an internal admin tool, and no credentials to hand over, because the browser is yours and the session is already open.
One assistant, in the place you are working
Chrome is one surface of the same assistant. The thing you tell it in the side panel is known in the web app, in the phone app and when it answers your phone line, because the memory and the connected apps sit behind all of them.

Frequently asked questions
Can I ask about any page?
Yes. The side panel opens on any tab and the assistant can read that page's text, structure and controls, so you can ask about what is in front of you rather than pasting it somewhere else.
Can it actually do things, or only answer?
It acts. It clicks, types, presses keys, scrolls, submits forms, navigates and moves between tabs in your own Chrome. You can watch it work in the tab or let it run in a background tab.
Does it need my passwords?
No. It runs in your own Chrome with the sessions already open there, so it reaches whatever you are signed in to without you handing over any credentials.
Does chat only work in Chrome?
No. The extension is one way in. The same assistant, with the same memory and connected apps, runs in the web app, the iOS and Android apps, the Mac and Windows apps and over your assistant's phone line.
Can it keep working after I close the laptop?
Yes. A job that does not need your own logins or your own tabs can run in the private cloud browser instead, which keeps going when your browser is shut.
