Comet is Perplexity's browser. The assistant lives in the window, sees the page and your open tabs, answers questions about them and takes actions on your behalf. Since March 2026 it is free on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, and the voice mode it got in February 2026 opens pages, follows links and scrolls when you ask it to, in 36 languages.
Sidekick Pro answers the same want from the other direction. Instead of a new browser, it puts the agent into the Chrome you already have, with the logins you already have, and then follows you to your phone, your phone line and your meetings. Perplexity Comet
Comet is the whole browser, so using it means moving your browsing to it: your bookmarks, your extensions and your logins. Comet imports them in a setup step, and then it is your browser. It is still the largest ask on this page, and it is the one thing a free product cannot make smaller.
Sidekick Pro
Sidekick Pro is a Chrome extension. You install it and the assistant is in the browser you were already using, signed in to everything you were already signed in to. Nothing moves, and there is nothing to import.

Perplexity Comet
Comet's voice mode is genuinely strong, and this is where it beats most of the field. Press Shift and Alt and V, or Shift and Option and V on a Mac, and tell it to open a page, follow a link or scroll. It keeps the conversation going as you move between tabs, and it works in 36 languages.
Sidekick Pro
Sidekick Pro's voice mode runs in the web app, the Chrome extension and the phone app, and you can talk over it to change direction mid-sentence. The same voice reaches the rest of your day: it is also the voice that answers your phone line.
Email, calls and meetings
Perplexity Comet
Comet is a browser. It does not watch your inbox and tell you what needs you, it does not answer a phone line, and it does not join a video call. Perplexity's connectors can search your Gmail and calendar when you ask, and its Email Assistant is a Max plan feature in Gmail and Outlook, not a Comet one.
Sidekick Pro
